Revel Nail's Salute to Service
Memorial Day
Memorial Day is meant to remember and honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. In honor of this, we wanted to take a moment to highlight a few of our very many customers who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. We have asked them to share a bit about themselves with us.
"I was a volunteer in the base Honor Guard during my last 3 years of service. I posted the colors at special events and, more importantly, I presided over veterans' funerals and presented the flag to the next of kin. It was such an honor to be part of a family's farewell to their loved one and thank them, on behalf of our nation, for their veteran's service to our country. My "day job" was a nuclear missile launch officer, and this was an additional duty for me that ended up being so special and meaningful. I still get chills when I think about it.
Above are couple pics of me in uniform. One is just me, preparing to present the flag to a deceased veteran's next of kin. The other has my wonderful husband Rod (also active duty Air Force, now retired), who puts up with my "chemistry lab" hobby; my mom, Pam Bales, who is a fellow die-hard Revel-er; and my dad, Jerry Bales, who owns the credit card that feeds the Revel addiction for my mom and I! And, of course, my first ever nailfie, featuring Hijinks and my favorite Revel Nail shade, Imagine!"
"I am currently stationed in Charleston, SC as a Marine Science Technician 3rd Class Petty Officer. I assist in the enforcement of U.S. federal environmental regulations on cargo ships and waterfront oil facilities, as well as the response/investigation of pollution incidents that occur in U.S. waters.
I am incredibly proud of my service as a whole. I love that we are able to protect the homeland all day, every day. Whether it is our search and rescue efforts, drug interdiction, the prevention of human trafficking, ensuring U.S. water and wildlife is safe from harm, and so much more, the Coast Guard is always ready to respond. Joining this service is by far the best decision I have in my life made thus far.
I know I probably sound like a spokesperson, but in all reality I’m just a small-town Arizona girl who found her calling near the ocean. Plus, the Coast Guard is one of the first U.S. military services to allow women to have painted nails that are not limited to only neutral colors as of 2019."
At the range taking someone who really struggles with marksmanship and instructing them into qualifying is incredibly rewarding. It really is an art form to pick apart their technique and be able to tweak hard to notice things to fix their accuracy.
As a Firearms Instructor we wear red shirts so we can be easily identified. I refer to Festival as my 'Range Red and wear it every range week, which is one week a month.
"While I didn’t stay in as long as I wanted nor did I accomplish as much as I’d hoped, I am immensely proud of my decision to join the Marine Corps. I was always so shy but I gained confidence as well as friendships that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
Favorite Revel color - that’s a tough one! But so far (of my small collection), I’d say Debutante has been my favorite!"
I have been out for a few years now, and the thing I was most proud of and enjoyed the most was the family that your fellow service members become. There is no replacement for the bond that you form with your unit.
My favorite shade is any of your greens, it’s hard to pick one. I was really a fan of Julep, that’s what I am wearing in the picture below and I would say my favorite so far is the Spring 2019 Mystery Box Green.
My name is Sinamin Hornquist. I am a United States Marine. The thing I most enjoyed about my time in the military was the camaraderie, we are there for our brothers and sisters through everything. And that doesn't change when you're no longer on active duty. I still talk to many of my fellow Marines that I served with.
I have to say I can't pick just one Revel color as my favorite because they are all great!!
"I am proud to have followed in the footsteps of my dad, grandpa, and great grandpa with serving my country. Coming from a military family really amps up the respect and honor to the those who fought and continue to fight for freedom.
Intrigued is probably my favorite shade. I'm a sucker for burgundy/wine colors."
What I enjoyed the most while serving was being able to travel and live in places like Japan and South Korea and the amazing experiences that came with it on duty and off. I miss the food, the people, and Cherry Blossom season the most! I came out of the military feeling like those four years held a whole lifetime of experiences good and bad, but I’m so grateful for all of them and my military family. My favorite Revel color is Chant.
My favorite thing about serving has been impacting the lives of my soldiers and watching them transform into the best person that they can be.
Favorite Revel Nail Color This is tough! If I had to choose my favorite color, it would be Serena! I love the color shift that it has depending on which lighting its in.

"The picture in uniform is me and my first daughter, back in 2015. The best part about my time in service (so far) was meeting my husband and starting our family during this journey. Had it not been for the Army, we would not have met!
My favorite Revel color is Hush, but apparently, I don't have a picture of it on. So, I sent a pic of elderberry!"
